Normally one to go hand in hand, Pilates is often described as an extension of yoga when in fact it is its own form of exercise that we are pleased to offer at our center here in Leeds. Pilates exercise was developed by Joseph Pilates during the 20th Century as a method of improving physical and mental health. You can see how it can be pigeon holed under the same type of exercise as yoga as it was designed to improve the body’s core strength however Pilates focuses on toning the back, abdominal and pelvic muscles whilst at the same time improving flexibility, posture and general fitness.
